Southgrove Bike Ride
it was six something in the morning when Kyle knocked on our door and asked me if I wanted to go for a (bike) ride. I said, not today. I went back to bed but could no longer sleep. I quickly got up and told Kyle I was going with him for the ride.
Last Wednesday, I rode around the village covering roughly ten kilometers at slow speed. It felt good and was planning to ride again the following day hoping to cover more distance. It did not happen. Too tired from the high energy gig the night before.
Today, I felt I was ready. The ride felt comfortable, slow pace lang but then Kyle was pulling away. I picked up speed and was quickly behind Kyle. If you ride a bike, you know how much effort was put catching up and maintaining a somehow steady fast speed. The legs were starting to ache and I was falling behind again.

We continued to ride towards Nuvali turning right to Westgrove. I was riding behind Kyle at a comfortable distance when he passed several bike riders waiting at the inter-section to cross the road. Unfortunately, I didn't have any video camera that time to catch the reaction of those riders who, simultaneously, turned their heads and followed "Uno" as she passed by :)).
We were halfway between South Forbes and Westgrove when I felt that I could no longer continue, I was getting tired already. We stopped at G's Spa for a few minutes rest. I called the named that place "SOUTHGROVE" hehehe...

Father's Day June 2012
So many exciting things happened on Father's Day, June 17, 2012.
Attended the 6am church service in Balibago West. We anticipate that the traffic to Tagaytay Highlands is going to be heavy, Father's Day it is, so we had to do everything earlier than usual.
Left home at 10am, traffic was not as bad as I thought it would be. We arrived at the Steakhouse around 1115am or so, plenty of time to sound check I thought. But there were guests already as we walked in the dinning hall. Rush, rush, rush... 1155am, we're ready to rumble!!!
12noon time's up! We started doing what we do best, playing music to the TH members, families and their guests. Daming tao, pati Montana occupied. That's about 250 to 300 guests.
1245pm, first break. Our manager (Dee) commented on how we sounded, so we did some adjustments.
0100pm. Back on the set. Nice to see people responding positively to every song we play.
0145pm. Second break. Manager comments on how great we sounded. Yey!
0200pm. Back on the set. We were rocking, literally. Our final song "Fix You" by Coldplay.
0245pm. Pack up time.
0300pm. Lunch at the Golf Club Canteen. Walked around the clubhouse area across to the Funicular. Hopped on the funicular down to the Midlands. Had a look around the Midlands Clubhouse. Took some photos... Hopped back on to the funicular back to the Highlands.
(TH pix and videos to follow)
0600pm. Left TH. We were exhausted from all the walking. Dee drove us down to Sta. Rosa.
We dropped by Conti's in Nuvali before proceeding to Shakey's. We were #10 on the waiting list at Shakey's so Kyle suggested Hungry Hippo's at the Phoenix Gas Station. At first, there were only the three of us. Few minutes later the place was full. A mugga was compliments of Hungry Hippo's to all fathers dinning there.
We had Magnum Almond Special for dessert c/o Kyle. Conti's Mango Bravo for late dessert at home.

Gig at Windsor Tavern, Paseo de Sta. Rosa
That's me in blue shirt with guitar, jamming with The 68 Special one Friday night at Windsor Tavern. Nice to be singing along with Randy and Robin Concepcion. We used to be band mates several years ago which was then called "Laguna Jam". The 68 Special are great musicians with awesome repertoire! Keep up the good job gentlemen...
Jamming with The 68 Special
Incidentally, during that jamming with The 68 Special, one of the owners was in the audience and was able to hear me. We talked about MASID auditioning for a slot at the Windsor Tavern. We were given the opportunity to audition the following day and almost instantly we were asked to choose a slot where we want to perform. Wednesday, sounded like a good day, so we chose Wednesday as our gig day.
MASID in action during first gig night
We, MASID, know through experience that Wednesday's are off days for gimmick goers. Because it is midweek, it becomes difficult to invite customers to chill. This is a challenge to us. We know that there are people still out there who dig our kind of music. They'll find ways and use all excuses just to be able to hear us... hehehe.
We invite you guys every Wednesday, 8pm to 11pm and listen for yourself. See y'all :)
Cheers,
MASID

Marlon & Diane Batica Wedding Day
It's a garden wedding! We came in early to check out the place and look for an area where we could position ourselves... We chose to be just beside the groom and bride (sorry about that Marlon and Dhen). Of course it was a great moment for the newly wedded couple.
We started entertaining the guests as they came in with songs chosen by the couple. We had to practice new songs too.

second stop didn't materialize
First stop... spent another relaxing afternoon with Jun and Amy Alcantara at their Whitehouse in Ponderosa, Tagaytay. Enjoyed the interesting also enjoyable conversation with them and their good friends. Time went by so quickly that we forgot all about our planned second stop, it was not regrettable at all, though.
Second stop... cancelled the funicular trip, time was not on our side :(. We'll reschedule in future gigs. Instead, we went to the TH Accounting Office to collect our TF. The descend and ascend to the Admin Building was kind of similar to the supposedly funicular ride only we took the steep, winding road :).
Last stop... has got to happen. This is what are here for, this is our gate pass to TH :). It was great performing to over a-hundred guests. We even had jammers from the guests.

Tagaytay Highlands Funicular Experience
After our lunch gig, Kyle and I decided we will have lunch at the Midlands Golf Club. Mas masarap daw ang pagkain doon sabi ni Kyle. We took the funicular and descended down to the Midlands. We were seated at the back end so it was impossible for us to take photos/videos of the ride. It was too quiet down there.
We went straight to the staff lunch room for our tucker. Lunch wasn't that bad, it was a Good Friday, what would one expect. Meron naman kasamang sabaw... :)
We watched the golfers hit their balls with their best shots.... not bad... some need to spend more time in the driving range. We ascended to the highlands via the Funicular now seated in the front row. This was what we were able to record.

We roamed around the Highlands Golf & Country Club. Saw the mini grand piano at the lobby. We continued using up our time until our next performance at 7pm.
Kyle, lost his cellphone. Lucky for him that there are honest people at TH. Thanks to the housekeeping guy who returned Kyle's CP to the Housekeeping Office. Kyle was able to claim his CP back without any hassle.
We started our set at 630pm and finished up at 10pm. Sent Dee a text message to prepare a light dinner for us when we get home.
It was a long day, after the light dinner we all retired to bed at 12mn.

La Vista Inland Resort Experience 4/3-5/12
Spent lent away from home at La Vista Inland Resort in Balanga, Bataan. Great bonding with the Villapando family. Most time was spent enjoying the overwhelming facilities and amenities La Vista has to offer, such as, pool slides, zip line, wall climbing and various types of swimming pools. Enjoyed walking through and appreciating its Jurassic like park. Home cooked meal was the menu during the stay and it was fun assisting in cooking.

OK lang kung minsan
Nakadadanas ng kalungkutan
Nagigising ang isipan
Sa katotohanang dinaraanan
OK lang kung minsan
Pagsubok ay maranasan
Sadyang ganyan ang kapalaran
Dadanasin kahit sino pa man
Koro:
OK lang na kalimutan
Suliraning walang katapusan
Ngunit, bumangon na at labanan
Kayang-kaya kahit ano pa 'yan
OK lang ang lumuha
Sa lungkot man o sa ligaya
Huwag nang ipagtaka
Sapagkat ganyan 'yan talaga
OK lang na layuan
Kung pansamantala lamang
Pagkat di mawawala yan
Hanggat di ito na su-solusyonan
(Ulitin ang Koro 2X, tapusin ang awit)

Graduation Gig at San Lorenzo Village
March 26, 2011, newly graduates Bros Jase, Lloyd and Jaemil celebrated in San Lorenzo Village at Bro Hernan's newly re-constructed house. Brethren from all groups were represented. The party started with videoke singing until we (Masid Acoustic) ruined their night when we started playing our music to them. There were jammers too from Binhi, Kadiwa, Buklod ang MT's. Some know that they could do better than the last performer but they're just too shy.
I was surprised with Shen-shen's type of music, rock, good on you Shen-shen.

Lots of March birthday celebrants were there too. Good to hear the "Mang-aawit's" too, they're not used to singing with live acoustic band backup. We intended to play only a few songs but we ended up doing more. We don't mind that thought, hope the feeling is mutual :).
To those who appreciated our music, thank you very much. We love doing this and we will continue doing it.

Hectic Schedule on March 24, 2012
It is now 25 March 2011, 2:30 in the afternoon. After arriving from Manila at around 10am, I took the much needed nap. I was already awake since 5am to prepare for the trip back to Laguna.
Yesterday, was a rather hectic day for Dee, Kyle and I. We started our day at 3:30 in the morning because March 24, 2012 is a special day for us. It's our Sta. Cena. We left the house at about 4am so we could be in the church for the 6am service. We arrived (Balibago Central) at about 430am hoping that we will be one of the early birds, we were not. Church service started at 6am and took about an hour-and-a-half to finish. We were Cleansed. We performed our church duties after the service that took us till 12nn.
Lunch was at MacJollie with Bro. Aldrin Andres. We needed to go home immediately to prepare for our trip to Marikina for a 6:30pm dinner date with my In-Laws (Joey's post birthday dinner).
Traffic in Alabang and C5 was terrible. There were no traffic enforcers to manage the chaos. We arrived at Gerry's a few minutes before dinner is served. Majority of the clan was there, Jing and Mitz were a bit late but they made it.
Efren, Rino and Jax didn't make it. We left Gerry's about 9pm. We all headed our own way. I had to demo a song (original composition) to my mom and eldest sister in Tandang Sora, a song that hopefully will pass the screening and be used in a choir contest. We left Tandang Sora at 11:30pm to go to Jing and Mitzi's place to spend the night there.
