Born in the City of Pines, I got interested in percussion (drums) at age 8. I learned to play the guitar at age 13. The first song I learned to play was "House Of The Rising Sun" by the Animals. I tried writing my own songs, sad to say, it never got me anywhere :(. I joined the school glee club and this was where I learned the rudiments of music. As I grew older, I formed groups (bands) in communities where we lived. Because it was too difficult to gather group members during practice, I bought my first acoustic guitar hence the beginning of my solo career. In 1991 I took a job overseas. Once a month we had a Mongolian Night Dinner and there I was on stage entertaining my workmates. When I returned to the Philippines in 2003, I decided to make a career change, a radical sabbatical, to become a full time musician in music bars, pubs and wherever I could play music. I've been doing this since then. I played solo gigs from 2003 to 2005 at Michael's Racs in Paseo De Sta. Rosa, Laguna where I am currently a resident.
In 2005, I asked Kyle to join me as percussionist and "MASID" was formed. Our repertoire consisted mostly of folk rock music which we played at Michael's Racs until November of 2008.

We get invites from guests that brought us to places we've never been to. This experience contributed to the excitement and confidence to us. During our travels we would imagine ourselves as great musicians "on the road" :).
In July 2009, we ended up with a gig at ANO? Bar & Grill in Tagaytay. Great place, just the right ambiance for our kind of music. Towards the end of 2009, I asked Kyle to help me out with the singing, not that folk music was a dying art hehehe, but it turned out to be a truly good mixture of folk, rock and reggae music. I would do the folk songs while Kyle the upbeat rock and reggae songs. We don't do variety, R&B and Rap music, because they're all over the place nowadays.

We've done two weddings already and we have few more inquiries up to 2012. Actually, we don't mind
doing wedding gigs. They're the source of inquiries.
January 2012, got a call from Nelson, of Highlander Steakhouse, requesting us to perform at Mr. & Mrs Rudy Mago's Wedding Anniversay. Nelson was delighted that he booked us gigs at the Highlander Steakhouse. Now, we are regular performers at the Steakhouse mainly during dinner time, 7pm-10pm. Occassionaly we get called to fill in whenever the other performer is not available.
What's next for MASID Acoustic? We will keep on playing music, that's for sure...
